With the arrival of December National Blog Posting Month #NaBloPoMo ends. I posted every day of the event, like a good boy. I’ll continue posting here every day for as long as I see fit, so it promises to be a long month. It’s kinda silly to refer to these events – NaBloPoMo and it’s big sibling NaNoWriMo with the word national, after all blogging doesn’t know nationality. Maybe it’s a good thing though. Nationalism is one of the big bullshit monsters of the world, one of the evil gods. So maybe it’s good to water down “nation.” Those lines on the map were drawn by lots of people with all sorts of agendas, often in times and situations far far removed from our own.
William Mortensen was a popular photographer in the 1930s. His gothic, romantic, and often erotic work is largely forgotten due to a public feud with Ansel Adams and some of Adams’ cohorts, according to a new book featuring his work.
